Sergei Semenovich Podushkin (1928-2016)

Served honestly and selflessly
47 years in the canine service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

During the Great Patriotic War, he was a scout and participated in the liquidation of gangs in Ukraine.
Since 1952 he became an employee of the famous MUR.
From 1954 to 1984, as the head of the Main Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs for the search dog service, he organized a laboratory on cynology issues and developed instructions and methods for the use of search dogs to search for drugs, explosives, and solve criminal offenses, which are still used by specialists today.
He was the consultant for the film "Come to me, Mukhtar!"; his two dogs, Baikal and Deika, starred in the film.
During the Cuban Missile Crisis, he took a direct part in organizing intelligence and training operatives in Cuba.
During the 1980 Olympics in Moscow, he was appointed commander of a special regiment for the detection of chemical and explosive substances at Olympic venues, and carried out extensive work to ensure the safety of athletes, tourists, and Moscow residents.
