The Bernese Mountain Dog, or Bernese Shepherd, is a herding breed originating in the Swiss canton of Bern. Swiss farmers quickly appreciated the endurance and good-natured nature of these large dogs, adapting them to guard flocks, work in cheese factories, and transport milk along mountain trails. Representatives of this breed were brought to Russia from Hungary, Poland, Czechoslovakia, and Germany. They stand 60-70 cm tall. Weight - 40-50 kg.
