The Chukchi sled dog is an aboriginal breed of dog, native to the peoples of Chukotka, Russia. It is not recognized by the International Cynological Federation. It is easy to maintain, easily trained, retains acquired skills for a long time, and is adapted to the harsh Arctic climate. The structure of its paws makes the Chukotka sled dog indispensable for sledding on sea ice and mountain tundra, providing reliable traction on difficult terrain. The majority of the population is concentrated in populated areas of Chukotka, where the dogs traditionally live. They are used for transport and for hunting marine animals. Height: 55-65 cm. Weight: 35-45 kg.
