Eduard Vasilyevich Toll (1858-1902)
Head of the Russian Polar Expedition. Searched for Sannikov Land. Died on Bennett Island. Over two years, the expedition covered 12,000 km, 8,000 of which were sled by dogs. The islands of Tugut, Korsar, and Grozny in the Nordenskiöld Archipelago are named after the expedition's dogs.
