From June 22, 1941 to December 31, 1943, the Central School of Military Dog Breeding alone prepared 11,673 dogs for the sled and medical units and subdivisions formed for the front, including by breed: 1,674 German Shepherds, 48 Hounds, 3,144 Laikas, 28 Dobermans, 197 Airedale Terriers, 1,481 crossbreeds, 5,088 mongrel dogs, and 13 others. At the end of the war, there were 18,400 sled dogs at the front, or 53.3% of the total number of military dogs at the front at that time.
