Vsevolod Vasilyevich Yazykov (1895-1941) was a dog trainer. From 1918 to 1922, he headed the Petrograd Sniffer Kennel. In 1919, he wrote a letter to the Red Army outlining a plan for organizing the use of service dogs in the Red Army, and was subsequently recruited for this work. During this time, he wrote several books on service dog training. His works on training theory and methods found practical application in border troops, the army, and criminal investigation, and still form the basis of the curriculum for service dog training schools. In 1938, he was arrested and sentenced to eight years as a former tsarist officer. He died in a camp in Kolyma on June 10, 1941. He was posthumously rehabilitated in 1956.
