During the project, a special ventilation suit was created and used for a dog without an oxygen mask. The suit included a removable helmet, an oxygen supply system, and a retractable tray.

Training was conducted daily for several months, with a gradual increase in the time spent in the suit. Only dogs that could comfortably endure two hours in the suit were used. Training ceased the day before departure to the testing grounds and resumed upon return.
The spacesuit's spherical helmet, made of plexiglass, allowed for filming of the animal in flight. A very small hatch was located on the lower side of the helmet. This hatch opened during the animal's parachute descent, allowing atmospheric air to enter the suit for breathing after its oxygen supply was exhausted.
