Grigory Panteleimonovich Medvedev (1899-1991), Major General of the Signal Corps (born in 1943), headed the Central School of Military Dog Training from 1935 to 1969.

Under his leadership and with his personal involvement, dog bike rides were held from 1935 to 1936. In 1940, at the suggestion of G.P. Medvedev, a new mine-detection dog service was developed. During the Great Patriotic War, he formed and trained new military dog ​​training units for the front, actively corresponded with officers and soldiers, former cadets of the school, and meticulously collected information on the use of military dogs at the front. He led a column of military dog ​​handlers at the Victory Parade on July 24, 1945.
