The selected dogs lived in a vivarium. There, square cages stood on tall, almost meter-long legs with wooden floors.
The dogs adapted well to their cages and, returning from a walk, jumped in as eagerly as they had left them. The dogs were fed twice a day. The diet included vegetables, fish, fat, meat, milk, and other products. Animals intended for difficult experiments were fed sausage, broth, canned food, sweets, and vitamins.
